People are now more aware of food safety and hygiene, and become more interested in organic food which is considered to be extremely good for their health.
This essay will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of consuming food that comes from organic sources.
First and foremost, studies showed that organically farmed food has higher concentrations of nutrients and antioxidants as well as lower levels of chemicals and pesticides.
Besides, most of the naturally grown food items usually taste better and are fresher and more natural than some non-organic foods that contain additives which can alter the taste, nutritional value and may even lead to weight gain.
As a result, organic food is clean and safe to eat, and has a better taste as well.
What's more, when planting organic food, farmers often apply eco-friendly farming methods which not only save them lots of money that would be spent on chemicals but also protect the environment from pollution and contamination of nearby bodies of water.
However, organic food has its own drawbacks.
The first one is its higher prices compared to non-organic food due to its slow production.
Organic farmers do not use chemicals or artificial methods to grow crops or livestock, so the production seems to take more time.
Additionally, the production of organic food also depends on weather, suitable lands and farming methods, so it requires a lot of care from farmers.
Moreover, the number of shops that sell real organic food is not very high; hence, the supply of organic food can be quite scarce.
In short, the consumption of organic food brings a lot of benefits, but its drawbacks in term of high price and scarce supply make it less popular among usual consumers.
Nowadays, food safety issues are regarded as one of the most important problems people, especially those in developing countries, have to face. As a result, consumers tend to pay more and more attention to the organic food. Some think it should be widely promoted while others assume it has certain limitation when in use based on its advantages and disadvantages.
First of all, organic food is very clean and safe for people's health because there are fewer chemicals or pesticide sprayed on it. Consequently, consumers will have more chances to use nutritional foods without any doubt. In addition, farmers use eco-friendly methods to cultivate so they spend fewer expenses on farming and are able to make big profits from selling their products.
In contrast, organic food has its own limitations, particularly for people with certain financial and geographical conditions. Producing organic products takes a lot of time and efforts and depends on many farming conditions such as suitable lands, weather, and farming methods. Accordingly, the price of organic food is quite expensive and buyers have fewer choices in favourite foods.
