Three different festivals all over the world:

- The first festival is Tet Festival

+ Time that this festival takes place: In late January or early/mid-February. The dates vary from year to year as it is based on the lunar calendar. The celebration lasts one week or longer.

+ Activities: Since Tet is the most important festival for Vietnamese, preparations for celebration begins well in advance. They make offering and pray at temples about the two weeks before and immediately after Tet because visiting temples is considered auspicious. Many families visit the graves of ancestors in the week prior to Tet. Homes are cleaned and decorated with Hoa Mai (yellow apricot blossom), Hoa Dao (peach blossom), Kumquat tree and many other colorful flowers. On the eve of Tet, they cook an abundance of food. On the first days of New Year, everybody, especially kids, wear new clothes and shoes to visit families and friends. Many children receive “lucky money” in red envelopes.

 + Country that the festival takes place: Vietnam and some South-East countries.

- The second festival is Autumn Festival

+ Time that this festival takes place: On the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar with full moon at night.

+ Activities: Making masks and lanterns; dragon dancing are probably one of many activities that take place. A lot of groups of young Vietnamese have created unique and trendy lanterns yet can still preserve the traditional beauty.

+ Foods in the festival:  The Moon cake. The round shape of the moon cake signifies completeness and reunion of families. Making and sharing mooncake is probably one of the hallmark traditions of this festival. 

+ Country that the festival takes place: In Vietnam and in some other parts of Asia as well, such as China, Japan or Korea.

- The third festival is Hung King Temple Festival

+ Time that this festival takes place: On the 10th day of March of the lunar calendar

+ Activities: While the main worship event takes place at the Hung Temple, which is perched atop Nghia Linh Mountain in Phu Tho Province, 100 lanterns are released into the sky on the eve of the festival. The next morning, a flower ceremony is held at Den Thuong (Upper Temple), where the Hung Kings used to worship deities during their reign. Lastly, a huge procession starts at the foot of the mountain, consisting of pilgrims, xoan classical song performances, and ca tru classical operas at several temples along the way towards the main Hung Temple.

+ Foods in the festival: People make offerings to Hung King temple. The offerings are offered with three animals (one pig, one goat and one beef), Banh Chung (sticky rice cake), Banh Giay (crushed sticky rice pudding), and colorful sticky rice

+ Country that the festival takes place: Vietnam

February From February 7 to February 26: Oruro Carnival, Bolivia 

You will see a special festival with parades, folk dancing and live performances at Carnaval de Oruro. This is a world famous costume festival in Bolivia, takes place in February each year. This festival dates back to the 1700s, and was originally just a small religious festival. Today, the festival is still very religious, honoring the people of the Catholic people, before Lent started.

Oruro opens with a sacred rite dedicated to the Virgin of Candelaria - the Candelaria Virgin. In fact, this festival is extremely impressive and is recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of humanity.

From February 21 to February 26: Rio Carnival, Brazil

Too famous and difficult to rival with lively street dances, in the passionate South American atmosphere, Carnival in Rio, Brazil is always the king on the list of street festivals. You will be dazzled by the grand parades, the music that makes the heart beat and countless bright lights, and the beautiful female dancers. What could be better than a festival filled with Brazilian party spirit. There is even a Sambadrome, built for samba dancers to compete against each other. It's rare for a stadium to be so full of fun.

March
From 1 to 2 March: Holi Festival, India

The Holi Festival is celebrated throughout India in early spring, also known as the 'Colorful Festival', in honor of the god Vishnu overcoming evil, as well as thanksgiving for a bumper crop. . This year's most colorful festival will be held in Rajasthan and Mumbai, and nationwide. Even Indians in Australia, Mauritius and even in the United Kingdom. For the best experience, visit Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh. This is where Vishnu spent his childhood in legends, so the Holi Festival in Pradesh has always had a special meaning.
